Amy Velazquez
I believe whole heartedly in guiding individuals through life’s obstacles, opportunities, and detours by consistently leading by example and being someone who can say nothing is impossible. I had my first son at age 15, and another at 18. As crazy as that seems, I went on to become a Bank Manager by age 20 and bought multiple homes.... All to lose most everything by age 25. Starting over was tough, but like all setbacks, it created the opportunity for a comeback. This restart provided me the opportunity to return to school and follow through on my dreams. I discovered my passion for helping others find their way while I worked for the county. While working for the county and raising my 2 boys as a single mom, I also attended Chico State. I earned a bachelor’s degree in Sociology and a minor in Career & Life Planning, while also moving up within social services. I married an amazing man who also shares a passion for helping others, grew my family and began my role as the Director of Business Services for Alliance for Workforce Development, the local workforce development operator for 6 northern California counties. Through my employment, family value and community involvement – I thrive on opportunities to change lives and can’t wait to be a part of helping another single mom develop her legacy.
